Wild Horse & Burro Herds Removed
Graphic showing the original herd areas and the herd areas where the wild horse/burro herd has been completely removed and zeroed out. The red lines indicate all of the herd areas, both wild horse and burro, that we have lost. This information is sourced from blm.gov and from the BLM's estimated wild horse and burro population statistics released each year in March/April. I have been notified by the public that in some cases there are wild horses or burros in areas the BLM has listed as zeroed out. When looking at the current population statistics report, if you scroll down below the HMAs to the HAs, in some cases BLM does note some wild horses or burros present. Sometimes they don't. I do not intend to let the BLM know if wild horses or burros remain and will use the HMA status as a populated herd and the HA status as a zeroed herd. You can find the current roundup schedule and populations statistics here.
NOTE: the wild horses of Sands Basin HMA and Four Mile HMA in Idaho were completely removed after wildfires in 2024. BLM said they would return the horses after one year and keep them in holding in the meantime. Information provided by their current 'estimated population statistics shows 0 wild horses in each of these HMAs to date. If the wild horses are not returned by the 2027 'estimated population statistics' and the BLM offices in Idaho that I emailed continue to refuse to answer my email questions regarding these two herds, I will have no choice but to make them as 'zeroed out' regardless of what the BLM website states as the current population AMLs.

AMLs and Genetic Diversity
'Appropriate Management Levels' and Genetic Diversity in our wild horse and burro herds. These Appropriate Management Levels are not based on science and the National Academy of Science Report from 2013 deems these numbers as arbitrary and not based on science.
Save Our Wild Horses trifold brochure
I designed a full color trifold brochure that is great for handing out to friends, family, and the public to let them know what is going on with our wild horses & burros, and how they can help. This can be printed on your home printer or through a professional printer (i.e. Vistaprint or Office Depot), and is great to post at coffee shops, riding stables, and more. These are best printed on glossy or semi-gloss double sided brochure paper. You can print them on 8.5 x 11 paper too of course.
A great idea to help bring awareness to the public about our wild horses and burros!

Please do not remove or change any info on the graphics; these were created by me and include my photography or photography that I was given specific permission to use.
Sure, the thought of breeding your beloved mare and having a foal out of her is nice...but there are hundreds and hundreds of domestic & wild horses and foals dropped at auction pens every single day by horse camps who are done with them for the season, by PMU breeders (premarin), and by breeders of all kinds (racing, western, Amish communities, backyard breeders, and so many more). These horses, if not adopted, will be sent to slaughterhouses in Canada and Mexico.
Encourage your community to adopt a horse from an auction pen and save an equine life today!
