Action Items you can take now to help make your voice heard
Points to include:
• Be polite with your calls and messages. Speak from your heart. • Let them know how outraged you are at the overall management of our wild horses and burros and that you need help from the White House. Let them know that as a tax paying citizen you are outraged that your tax dollars are funding such a broken program for our wild horses and burros. • Talk about Kat Billou dying while in a Bureau of Land Management holding pen, and how 3 young horses ages 5-6 months were taken from their mothers while still nursing. • Tell them the Bureau of Land Management is failing at running the Wild Horse & Burro Program and as an American citizen (or international fan of wild horses), you are incredibly disappointed that our government isn't protecting wild horses, who are a federally protected species • Do NOT mention or talk about horse slaughter; that is a different legislative issue and we don't want to talk about roundups and slaughter in the same calls. Focus on roundups and especially the McCullough Peaks wild horses |
Let's keep calling the White House every day this week!

Get letters in the mail. We have to flood them with thousands of messages. We are all one person, but together we can make a difference! Please don't just say to yourself, "I'll let everyone else do this" We ALL need to do it. Erin Phillips, founder of Mustang Mission, is trying to help keep the Cumberland Island wild horses on the island. I visited this herd in September 2020 and found beautiful horses roaming a beautiful island. To get there you have to take a short ferry ride, then either walk or ride a bike around the island. The horses are among palms, beaches, and ruins.
Erin is working to find a way to keep the horses on the island. While there is enough forage on the island to sustain the herd, she believes they are lacking the mineral selenium. With the addition of selenium blocks to the island, the herd can thrive. Erin has started a petition, is talking to the National Park Service, and has compiled some additional information that you can read in the PDF attachment below. Please sign the petition today and share it for others to sign too: change.org/p/save-the-cumberland-island-wild-horses For more information, visit Erin's page Mustang Mission here |
