"This is the herd that has been held up as the gold standard for how a wild horse herd can be managed to stay wild and free in their wild home of sage and high desert." - Wyld Rose Images
On November 13, 2023, the Bureau of Land Management put out a press release stating that the McCullough Peaks wild horse bait & trap gather would begin on November 27, 2023. We have to keep doing all we can to stop this from happening. The gather is set to last for a few months, so we still have time!
This is a last ditch effort and will take thousands of people emailing and mailing letters and postcards. Send in more than one, ask your family and friends to get involved. Do both an email and a letter. Include a photograph of your favorite McCullough Peaks wild horse (email me if you need one: kaya97524@yahoo.com)
You can still email and send a letter if you are international fan of the McCullough Peaks wild horses!
Shouldn't we try everything we can? Wild horses need our voices, let's make ours heard today! I have coloring pages and postcards that you can print out and use for the kids here. Please only use the coloring pages that say 'McCullough Peaks' for this action item. Have the kids color it in, sign with their first name, then send it to the mailing address for the White House below. Send one coloring page per envelope - we need lots of mail to show up at the White House!

I have a post on Facebook that can be shared from here: www.facebook.com/saveourwildhorses/
and on Instagram from here: www.instagram.com/saveourwildhorses/
But you need to do more than share and comment, we need everyone to actually send a letter and/or email - EVERYONE!
There is a script you can copy & paste below. Or you can write your own. But remember to BE POLITE. No yelling or threatening, we need the President to want to help us and he won't if you yell at him. Think about the horses when writing your letter and how your letter would best help them.
Other tips:
• do not mention slaughter, kill pens, or the SAFE Act
• do not mention cattle, livestock, or ranchers
• keep your message short and to the point: only ask him to save the McCullough Peaks wild horse herd - stay focused with a consistent message!

Your message:
President Biden,
When President Nixon signed the Wild and Free Roaming Horses & Burros Act of 1971, he quoted Henry David Thoreau and said 'We need the tonic of wildness..."
Today we need your help to save the magnificent wild horses of the McCullough Peaks herd outside of Cody, Wyoming. This herd has been held up as the gold standard for how a wild horse herd can be managed to stay wild and free in their home of sage and high desert. Yet the Bureau of Land Management has decided to reduce this beloved and internationally known wild horse herd to a number that will not be genetically viable. Over 6,000 comments from the American public in support of the McCullough Peaks wild horses were ignored.
On November 27th, the Bureau of Land Management will begin to trap many of the wild horses of McCullough Peaks removing them from their home and families forever. Once the BLM trapping is finished, the number of wild horses in McCullough Peaks will be reduced to just 140, or one horse per 786 acres. To date, public outcry has fallen on deaf ears.
The American mustang is a source of pride and the living symbol of freedom. These values are echoed throughout our country and the wild mustang is one of our greatest ambassadors.
Please ask Secretary Haaland and BLM Director Stone-Manning to stop the upcoming gather of McCullough Peaks immediately.
Thank you,
(your name, and you could add your spouse, partner, and/or kids here too)
